Radiology Tech Assistant
Millennium Physician Group
Full Time (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm)

We are looking for a Radiology Tech Assistant to join our Radiology Team. The Radiology Tech Assistant is a professional health care employee, functioning under the direct supervision of a Registered Technologist. This position serves as a Radiology Department liaison to assure prompt professional service. The Radiology Tech Assistant is responsible for providing patients clinical care ranging from medical intake, patient and room prep, IV's, along with others within their scope of practice in assisting the Imaging Technologists.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties as assigned)
- Effectively manage several modalities patient workflow by coordinating exams, analyzing, synthesizing, and communicating pertinent information while ensuring quality, safety, efficiency throughout the patient episode of care
- Bring the patients back in a timely manner for their exams using the proper and accurate patient verification process; obtain the pertinent medical history; Screen childbearing age patients for pregnancy
- Assess and review the exam questionnaires with the patient to determine and address any potential conflicts or safety concerns
- Handles patient communication in a professional manner and appropriate to patient age, condition and cultural needs
- Start Intravenous line safely, review the contrast consent with the patient and ensure a well-executed consent process
- Provide swift assistance to other modalities as needed
- Use appropriate infection control mechanisms to reduce exposure to opportunistic pathogenic microorganisms
- Clean the exam table after each patient table with disinfectant wipes (Sani-Cloths)
- Always uses a calm and understanding approach, reducing any fears or anxiety the patient may have about the procedure
- Always provides privacy for the patient and makes the patient comfortable and recognizes the needs of a patient
- Keep the patient, family and radiology staff informed when additional time is needed or when circumstances require delays in the procedure start time
- Keeps supplies adequately stocked
- Checks inventory and orders department supplies on a regular basis
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Graduate of an approved school or institution for Medical Assistants
- Certification/Licensure: RMA or CMA required; BLS/CPR for health care provider in adult, child, and pediatrics. Must be kept current.
- Medical terminology college level course, basic anatomy and physiology college level course, computer literacy, general knowledge of various Radiology procedures and preps, aseptic techniques, and other health care related courses.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Performs general patient care duties
- Strong communication skills
- Venipuncture experience
- Demonstrate all necessary skills and knowledge of computers and/or equipment technology in the Radiology Department including but not limited to PACS and RIS
- The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
