The Clinical Applications & Interface Specialist is a vital hybrid role that combines expertise in clinical workflows with advanced technology integration skills to support healthcare operations and improve patient care. This position requires a strong understanding of ambulatory clinical processes and involves collaborating with clinical operations and technical teams to analyze and resolve software and database errors in a complex clinical environment.

The Specialist will be responsible for facilitating and overseeing the migration of clinical data related to acquisitions and integrations, ensuring that the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system interfaces operate seamlessly. Acting as a bridge between clinical systems and healthcare professionals, the Specialist will ensure that technology aligns with the practical needs of patient care, promoting seamless data exchange and interoperability.

Additionally, the Clinical Applications & Interface Specialist will equip new office environments with the necessary technology and support, combining technical expertise with exceptional customer service skills. This role is crucial for maintaining operational continuity and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the organization's technology infrastructure, with a focus on system analysis, troubleshooting, integration, and support for internal processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of all clinical applications to serve as a subject matter expert on assigned project teams and departmental initiatives.
  • With limited supervision, plan and coordinate application upgrades, collaborating with the Learning department to create any necessary training materials.
  • Address incoming problem tickets and support calls from Clinical Application Support Coordinators.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex issues or challenging inquiries, and initiate service calls to vendors, ensuring follow-up on the resolution of these services.
  • Test fixes and perform follow-up assessments to ensure that problems have been adequately resolved.
  • Identify sources and trends of technical issues to prevent future occurrences and maintain an up-to-date knowledge base for quicker troubleshooting of repetitive problems.
  • Assist in the design, building, and testing of clinical applications.
  • Communicate application problems and issues to key stakeholders, including management and end users.
  • Provide support for testing new and existing workflows.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams, including but not limited to Application and Workflow, Learning and Development, TIS Clinical Systems, and TIS Integration.
  • Offer support during Go-Live events and system upgrades.
  • Ensure the seamless integration of clinical data during data migrations for various integrations.
  • Conduct interface testing to verify data accuracy, system performance, and interoperability.
  • Collaborate with Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) to facilitate secure and accurate data exchanges between organizations.
  • Act as a liaison between IT teams and clinical staff to ensure that interfaces align with clinical workflows.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for interface configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Demonstrate excellent guest service to internal team members and patients.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in technology integration, IT support, or a related field.
  • A+ Certification and ITIL Foundations Certification are preferred.
