Summary

The Imaging Patient Services Specialist deals directly with Radiologists and referring providers to connect them via telephone to discuss STAT findings.  Calls and schedules patients for procedures and relays results as needed.

The Imaging Patient Service Specialist acts as the liaison between the Radiologists and referring providers as well as directly contacts and speaks with patients.  They are the first point of contact for Radiologists and referring providers to connect.  The candidate must have strong customer service skills through effective handling of the incoming calls from providers and patients.  Candidate must possess strong computer skills as well as phone knowledge and procedure scheduling to handle incoming calls effectively.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Handles multiple calls and texts through delivery of exceptional customer service and support
  • Knowledge of special procedure scheduling (facilities, protocols and procedures)
  • Works directly with Radiologists and referring providers to ensure proper communication and documentation of STAT findings
  • Contacts patients to schedule special procedures, enters bloodwork and calls in prescriptions as needed. Ensures patients complete paperwork and are knowledgeable on procedure being scheduled
  • Monitor Radiologist inbox in Athena to approve as delegate labs and pathology orders.
  • Directs providers when questions are raised regarding imaging results
  • Documents all interactions via telephone in chart to ensure patient and providers are notified properly
  • Excellent communication skills to handle calls in a high volume practice

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

CMA or RMA with 1+ years of service in the healthcare field

OR Radiologic technologist with clinical knowledge.

Radiologic experience of 1+ years

Experience working in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment

Strong computer and phone skills

Pride themselves on the ability to organize and process information

 

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively and professionally before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these basic Math operations.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Athena Database software; Microsoft Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

CMA or RMA must be kept active and in good standing
